LAX-approx. taxi ride to West Hollywood

Hi All-
Going to LA next week and need a ride from LAX to the London LA. I'd rather do a car service or taxi. Can someone recommend a not totally expensive car service and/or give me an approximation of the cost from LAX to West Hollywood? Each time I've been to LAX I've been picked up so I have NO IDEA how much this will cost.

Thank you!

It totally depends on the time of day and the day of the week. But, probably at least $50. that is if the taxi driver doesn't try to take you for a ride. They try to take me for a ride and I've lived in L.A. County nearly 45 years. I always have to be very firm with them as to the route I want to take.
Where in West Hollywood are you going. What cross streets? We might be able to map out a route for you.

Why don't you just take the Super Shuttle and not hassle with a taxi? The only time I take a taxi is if I've landed very late at night or when I've gotten off of a 17 hour, non-stop from Bangkok and just need to get home fast.
When you exit your airport terminal, you just look for the ORANGE sign that will say,"Shared Ride Vans" and wait until one comes around that says Hollywood on it. I don't remember if there's one that says, "West Hollywood" and another one that says just, "Hollywood" or not. But, don't get on anything if it says North Hollywood or else you'll end up in the Valley. All three Hollywoods are very different. Just flag the van to stop and then ask them. It's VERY easy to take the Super Shuttle.

There will be two different companies...one called Super Shuttle...the vans are blue.... and the other called Prime Time...the vans are brown. Either is fine. Happy Travels!

I forgot to add, you don't need a reservation. I've never had one and have used it for decades. Just stand there, under the orange sign and one will come around. You can google Super Shuttle. Happy Travels!

Thank you. The London LA is on San Vicente and Santa Monica Boulevard. I don't live in LA (obviously) but I am pretty well-versed with the streets and will hopefully know if I'm being taken for a ride.

Any car services? I arrive at noon on a Thursday.

Also, do taxis take credit cards?

Yes, taxis take credit cards. If you are alone and time does not matter at all to you, Super Shuttle is OK. If you have more than one person, the price advantage effectively disappears.

There is a $4.00 Big Blue Bus shuttle that goes directly to Westwood Village, so no extraneous stops or driving around to hell and gone....and from there taxi would be only, maybe $20??? Guessing only, of course depends on traffic!!!....but not a great option if you have a lot of luggage. However, taxis are plentiful in WW Village and I assume that they gather at the arpt Blue Bus stop.

Not all taxis take credit cards. Ask before you get on.

The $4 bus to Westwood is the FlyAway. Their vehicles are blue, but it's not a "Big Blue Bus" (which is actually more purplish), which is the bus system for Santa Monica. It's cheap and easy, but only every 30 minutes.

I agree taxi is about $50. More if traffic is bad.

True, all taxis don't take credit cards. And it really would be best to take the Super Shuttle. They'll drop you directly there.

As for the Flyaway bus to Westwood, sometimes they are very full and will come around and then drive right past you because there's no more space. This happened to me last year when I tried out one of them. I waited over an hour and ended up leaving Tom Bradley International Terminal, whre I was standing, and walking over to Termnal 1, so that when it came around again, I'd be at the first stop. That's how I eventually ended up getting on although there were lots of people at the first stop. I've never had that problem with Super Shuttle. Happy Travels!

As for car services, I don't know of any off of the top of my head. I have a close family friend, who uses one regularly, as she just doesn't drive much anymore. She lives here, however, so probably gets some special rate since she's a regular client. She uses one to drive her around L.A. County, when she doesn't want to drive. I don't know which one she uses though and it's a bit difficult to get in contact with her right now. Happy Travels!

Car services in LA are very expensive. Just take the taxi. It should be about $45-50. Some take credit cards; some do not, so ask first. It will take between 45 minutes and 1 hour. I cannot imagine taking the Super Shuttle.

Sorry maybe I am just spoiled. With Supershuttle you lose a lot of time between stops with other people.
