Law and Order filming locations

Does anyone know how to catch filming locations for Law and Order in NYC? We will be in NYC on 4/26.

Law & Order in all its permutations has been filming in my neighborhood for many years. I would not recommend seeking out a filming location because, chances are, you will miss the actual filming unless you can waste many hours waiting for the brief moment of filming. Techies and staff are forever setting up and knocking down while the actors hide in their trailers.

I believe that filming for the season is complete - but am not positive. If you call 311 when you get to NY they will tell you what web site you can use to find out who is filming where. (I used to know, but it has changed a couple of times.) But you may have the chance to see a movie being filmed - many are made here - but not sure what is at the moment.

I have seen various L&Os filming multiple times and they used to use the front and steps of the main court house quite often but I haven't seen it recently. And they tend to avoid the busiest areas whenever possible (I have seen them on the upper west side numerous times - but not much this year).

Sorry - agree that actually seeing any filming is liable to take hours of standing around waiting while lights and shots are set up and all sorts of technical things done to see the actors for 30 seconds or a minute at most.

The 311 number to call once in New York City is a good call. People there will inform you about the sites and then you can plan ahead your visit. How ever, as everybody said here I guess that even if you get to see all the arrangements before shooting it will take for ever to get to see for 1 to 2 minutes the actors. Some people say it is worth it but I guess that is a very personal choice / opinion. Upper west side is the perfect location to see all these people. Spring is kind of a good time to come for this purpose. Hope you get to see what you want
