Lava Update

Lava is again flowing above ground this week at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island. You can see the lava flowing down the hill from the parking area at the bottom of the hill. If you do hike out to the ocean entry point, you can see the lava entering at 3 different points. The above ground flow is moving slowly, so it won't be visible for long before crusting over. Now's a good time to view.

Thanks for the update, matnikstym. I keep an eye out, and hope it's flowing in late September when I'm there.

Do you recommend a guide for seeing the Lava? I am not sure I want to shell out $50 to hike if it isn't necessary. They also have guided hikes to waterfalls.
