Last minute trip down the shore this weekend!

I could use a little advice! My friends and I live in Northern New England, and have decided we need a spontaneous "jump in the car after work friday and get oughta dodge" trip. The only requirements? There MUST be rides and a relatively fun nightlife.

Being from NJ--born and bred---no bennie here ---I'm familiar with all the areas. That said, it's been a lot of years since I've been anywhere besides my beloved LBI, which, alas, is rideless.

We age from late 20s to 30 and would like to not be surrounded ONLY by families (although, being so early in the season, this may not factor) Is Seaside still Sleeze-side? Recommendations are welcome---and last minute motel ideas too.

Thanks, all!

I don't know about hotels, but you might try Spring Lake or Sea Girt. Lot's of fun, and not nearly as cheesy of a crowd as other shore points.

Wildwood!

Ocean City has rides right on the boardwalk, but it is a dry town . Byob.

This time of year, you can probably just show up and find a room .

Sleazeside is still sleazeside. I'd avoid.

Point Pleasant is probably your best bet for boardwalk with rides plus nightlife. You have Tiki and Jenks after all. Just remember the rides are not 6 Flags quality or fear factor.

Wildwood seems not worth the extra driving from New England.

I'm not sure about lodging. We always had friends with shore houses to crash at.

Thanks folks...I'm thinking Wildwood and Ocean City are a wee too far anyway (not that ANY trip will be less than 7 hours, but that's what the spontaneous road trip brings!) I've never been to Sea Girt and I was a child the last time I've been to Spring Lake...I'll check it out. Point Pleasant had also crossed my mind. As for hotels, I think I'll agree with capxxx, if it's not Prom weekend...we should be able to land a room there.

Oh hell. IS this going to be Prom weekend?? Eeek. I'd forgotten that little aspect. Ah well, avoid Sleazeside at all costs!
