Las Vegas Valet
We will be renting a car because one of the folks in our group has MS. I have read that most all the parking is free and that you just tip the Valet.
My question is how much and do you tip when you drop off and pick up or just when you pick up?
Thanks!

When I pick up my car, I tip with $1, a smile, and a warm thank you.
In return, I get a "thank you."
The people who tip $5 are probably the same ones who eat out so seldom they can afford to give 25% tips on the tax they are charged in restaurants.
Las Vegas thrives on bumpkins such as them.

Resent the fact that you think since I tip anywhere from $2-5 to pick up my car in Valet in Vegas, that I am a
"Bumpkin"..and that seldom do we go out and we can tip 25%..WHAT?
I am well traveled, educated and dine out quite frequently and I don't need someone to tell me, especially one that tips $1 and then has to remind everyone here on Fodor's that we are Bumpkins for adding a dollar or two more for doing so!
Obviously, one needs to change their name from Happy to Grumpy and Cheap!

I generally tip $2 when dropping off the car and another $2 when picking it up.
That said, I try not to use the valet in Vegas as I once got stuck in an hour-long line waiting for my car at the Mirage.
Consider dropping off your group and luggage and then parking on your own. Whenever you need to drive, pick them up in front of the hotel and use the tip money to play slots!

Thanks for all the replies... I will probably do the drop off and pick up thing some of the time and valet the rest. I find trying to locate your group once you separate to be tedious in vegas.
I think I will shoot for 3 dollars and I am undecided about tipping at drop off... I probably will if I am going to be a short time at a place and I might tip more to try and keep the suv close.
That being said I eat out about ten times a week and usually tip a minimum of 20% because I think it is the right thing to do and I don't make all that much money. I routinely tip much more than my boss that makes a significant amount more than me... Waiting can be hard work... I don't tip well for crap service...
