Going to see Mystere for sure and possibly another.

Now, for the real nitty gritty.....food!!
It's 2 ladies - 50ish - so romance is not pertinent, but like casual and fine dining.

I wouldn't recommend any restaurant at Bally's, but that may just be a personal thing. I've had bad experiences at the buffet and the steakhouse. Other people love it. Another recommendation is the Palms. There's 3 good restaurants there- N9ne (steakhouse), Little Buddha (chinese/sushi), and Garduno's (New Mexican food). I highly recommend Garduno's. It's a ton of fun and very reasonable prices. The other 2 are semi trendy, but nice for a change.
For your sweet tooth, there's usually at least 1 restaurant or shop open 24 hours in most casinos - there's always desserts or sweets available.

I was in Vegas just a couple of weeks ago. We had dinner on Sunday night at 7 at the Bellagio Buffet. It was great. Tremendous selection and all very good. I remember a carving station with turkey, buffalo, elk, ham, roast beef, side dishes, vegetables, a pasta station and an array of desserts to satisfy everyone. We also had lunch at noon on Saturday at the Aladdin Spice Market and it too was great. Not as exotic or inventive as Bellagio but very good nonetheless. Everything was fresh and hot. Carving station, pasta bar, salad bar, Mexican, Middle Eastern, Asian, omelettes, potato pancakes, and a very good selection of desserts. Went to a chain restaurant off the strip named Buca di Beppo and we had a blast. Good food, huge portions.

Renoir at the Mirage is great, and the Samba Grill there is a completely lively, different dining experience with great Rodizio grilled meats, seafood and veggies.
The Boulangerie at Paris across the street is a great place for a sweet tooth fix.

I ate at Picasso a few years back and found it highly overrated, FYI! (Also VERY expensive!) My favorite "cheap" place is the "Parisian food street" in the Paris Hotel. AND you can satisfy your sweet tooth there! But recently my sister and I had savory crepes and a really decent glass of wine (!) at the take-out windows, for like around $15 each.

Ceasars and the Bellagio have great cafes for coffee and a sweet attack.
You have named some really good restaurants! We will be there THanksgiving week, eating at most of the places you listed.
IMO-
Spago is best for lunch, 'outside' so you can people watch. Dinners tend to be noisy and hectic.
Olives is great and also a very good lunch choice, try to get a table outside if it is warm enough.
I like the bakery at Paris for sweets, pain au chocolate

I would suggest Bellagio Buffet-they used to serve "free" Cava on Fridays and Saturdays but on teh last Friday I was there they did not , Mon Ami Gabi for lunch, Bally's buffet is great for Sunday brunch but pricey at $52+ (I think it's worth it for the champagne and caviar if that's your thing), I'd recommend Samba over Rumjungle for a not so young crowd, I haven't been to Delmonico but friends love it. I've had a couple of very good meals at Pinot in Venetian.

I've heard that the Mirage buffet has gone way downhill in the past few years. Today I just read that they're closing the buffet down on December 1st.

Spago was probably the most disappointing restaurant I've eaten at in LV. Cheap feeling fake atmosphere, very average food, poor service.
There are so many great alternatives.

What about Emerils NO Fish House in the MGM? Recommend?

Emerils used to be a favorite of ours, but they have gotten so busy and so crowded and the service suffers and sometimes the food is not that great..so I don't recommend it anymore. Maybe lunch would be better, we always had dinner there.

Samba is great and in your hotel. Also, you may want to try the buffet at Paris. They have several different "stations" that each represent a different region of France. It was a great way to try lots of different types of food without spending a fortune. They even have a crepes station- yum.

Mon Ami Gabi for lunch. Rum Jungle is really a bar, go to Red Square (right next door). For fancy, but not as crowded, try Andre's. Renoir is also good. I would stear clear of Emeril's, over-rated & over-priced just as Spago & etc. What kind of food are you looking for ?

Will be in Las Vegas from Nov. 1 to 7. Have a lot of restaurants on my list also.

No one ever seems to mention The Verandah at the Four Seasons. I have read good things various places but nothing much on Fodors. Anyone have any experience at The Verandah? I'm thinking lunch would be nice (two women killing time will husbands at Auto Week stuff).

Having dinner on Sat. night (Nov. 1) at N9ne at The Palms. There will be 10 of us so it could be (WILL be) a zoo!!

Sunday night we're eating at Emeril's NO Fish House. We are staying at the MGM so thought we should try it out. Have hopes of a good meal ... reserved there approx. 3 years ago and never actually went.

Interested to get the tip on Garduno's at The Palms - will mention it to the group and hopefully try it out.

So many places, so little time. You can't eat all day can you?? Or can you?

I will try to remember food details, etc. of our week and report back.

Boxer- sounds like you're taking advantage of one of the best parts of Vegas... food! There are way too many good restaurants- we have a list and try to get to at least 1 new one a month.
I loved N9ne- delicious steak. Try the shrimp appetizer, it's delicious! You should really get to Garduno's. We ate there last weekend- yum! Make sure and check out the salsa bar. They don't take reservations, so if you have a big group, an early or late dinner might be good.
On the Verandah, I haven't eaten there, but I heard it's good for a lunch thing. I had a friend who had a business lunch there- he said the staff was wonderful.
Ice- I haven't eaten at the NO Fish House, but Delmonico's in the Venetian is also Emeril's. If you want to eat there this weekend, though, it might be too late. I tried to make a reservation 3 weeks in advance and could only get one after 9pm. Eek! Did you make any restaurant decisions yet?
