Las Vegas Advice Requested
Hello fellow foderites. I am going on a family trip to vegas from may 16-19. We plan on seeing a few shows but we are currently debating whether we should book the shows online or if we should wait until we arrive and book then. We thought that maybe there would be deals in the coupon books at the casino. We plan to see the blue man group at the luxor, the rat pack at the sahara (where we are staying at) and either danny gans, steve wyrick or lance burton for the third show. We would also appreciate any advice on the best seating for the price. It is my moms birthday during the trip and we were seeing if any of the shows or the sahara do anything special for birthdays. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Don't wait to book tickets. Many shows sell out in advance. The only show that has had any discount that I know of has been the Rat Pack for local residents only. I think Lance Burton would be a good choice for a third show, his magic is pretty good. I found Danny Gans a little boring & overrated although others enjoy it. When you book by phone you will immed. be given the best seats. You may want to tell the cocktail show waitress it's your Moms b-day, sometimes entertainers will wish happy b-days in the audience. Have fun!

We went to Blue Man last Friday. Price was the same there as it had been online. We got 3 tickets the day before with no problem, but if you really want to go, reserve in advance. Shows like O and Mystere are always sold out weeks in advance. We saw Smothers brothers on Saturday and really enjoyed it..Kind of a jolt from the past.
A show that will be at the Golden Nuggett at that time is the Society of Seven from Hawaii. They put on a fun show... oldies, elvis, show tunes, rock & roll etc.

See Rita Rudner at NYNY...I've seen 50 shows in LV over the past 15 years, everyone of the top ones, for an hour she's hilarious, remarkably clean (your mom will appreciate) and a bargain given the costs of some of the others...some of the heavily marketed shows are rip offs.

Book online (at least for Blue Man). We went two weeks ago - arrived on Sunday and went to buy tickets - there were no discounts and we got the last group of 4 seats together that were available all week (and they were for the 10:00 show on Wed). We were near the rear of the theater. The seats were still good, but I would have liked to have been nearer the front.

We have seen Danny Gans twice, not boring at all.I would suggest him over the magicians, although he sells out in advance so book asap.
Most of these theaters have good seats, you can just ask for the best seats available.I have never really gotten bad seats .. Have you considered seeing Mystere? That would really wow your mom!
Wherever you go, be sure to tell people (waitresses etc) that it is her birthday, they will do something nice.

Saw the "Downtown" show last night about Vegas with John Q and Vargas. It was about how Vegas is back to being an adult place and how they are really pushing the limits on partying and nudity blah blah blah. Anyway they had a story about Danny Gans and how he gets paid gobs of money and his show is a huge hit, though he's not a household name (I'd never heard of him) Well, they show a part of his show and all I can say is yawn, lead me to the door.
If you missed it you missed a pretty good hour of what Vegas is all about.

Thanks to everyone for the great advice. I did see the special last night on vegas and the danny gans segment did interest me in possibly seeing his show. I also appreciated the advice on the sahara buffet. We were planning on trying the sahara buffet out on friday and then going to the bellagio buffet on saturday for lunch. We plan to book the blue man group for my moms birthday on the 18th, we will definitely try to let someone know that it is her bday before the show starts.

Oh man, I wasn't steering anybody to or away from Danny Gans. Just stating I saw a story on how much money he made and the part of the show they showed bored me. Whatever. If you like that sort of thing you should go by, all means. Actually if that many people continue to see him and that's the kind of entertainment you like then you should get the tix. Yikes it's getting scary here today. I am officially nuetral on Danny Gans. Checkout the site http://abcnews.go.com/Sections/downtown/index.html if you want more info on Vegas becoming more adult oriented. Bye now.

I never gave an opinion on Danny Gans. Why don't you read what I wrote! I said I saw the story on the program Downtown. I said the part of the show they showed made me yawn. Where in the world do you people get that I gave an opinion on Danny's show or whether anyone should get tix. Get over yourselves already. You are just reading these posts with a negative thought in your head so you read all the posts with a negative bent. See the show don't see the show do whatever.
