I would recommend Zephyr Cove Resort or Brockway Springs Resort.
Zephyr Cove Resort is at -you guessed it - Zephyr Cove. I like this location because it is only a short drive to the casinos and everything that goes on there, but is not in the middle of everything. There are cabins right on the shore, and a fairly long, sandy beach. There is also a dock where you can rent boats or take a cruise, there is a lodge with a restaurant, and a little bar.
Brockway Springs Resort is in Kings Beach right on the north shore. It's a private resort, so only people staying there have access. We go to this resort when we want to get away from the crowds. The shore is pretty rocky and there is no beach to walk on, but there are pathways along the shore. The views are great - you can see the casino lights at night. When we stay at Brockway, we usually go down to Tahoe City because it's not a very long drive. Tahoe City and Truckee are nice little towns.
