Lake Placid
Taking 2 teenage boys to lake placid area this summer. Suggestions on activites and restaurants are needed! Hiking, boat rentals, etc. would be great. Some high end restaurants and quick bites would be great. Thanks

The restaurant at Mirror Lake Inn -- "The View -- has specatacular dinner and breakfasts. I took my 15 year old son there when I visited him for parents weekend at a nearby camp. They gave him seconds on the house -- need I say more? They have a small place across the street called "The Cottage" for simple meals.
Check this out for some other ideas of what there is to do :http://www.mirrorlakeinn.com/activit...ummer_fall.php
Maybe you could sneak a bit of time away and go to the Spa at Mirror Lake Inn. AHHHHHHH!
If you couldn't tell, Mirror Lake Inn is one of my favortie resorts.
You can rent paddle boats and go out on the lake. Go to the Olympic Ski Jump area and go on the wheeled bob sled run!! It was the most thrilling minute of my life!
We also went to High Falls Gorge which was really fun. http://www.highfallsgorge.com/
Hope this helps!

We had a great time canoeing with St. Regis Canoe Outfitters. We drove to Saranac Lake and picked up sandwiches at the Blue Moon Cafe. The outfitter drove us to State Bridge where we started our paddle. We haven't canoed in 15 years but this is a nice easy paddle with no portaging. We paddled across a pond to Lower Saranac Lake--there are lots of islands where you can stop for a picnic or to swim. We stopped at Bluff Island, had our picnic and then our kids jumped off a cliff into the lake--there were several other teens at this spot. We saw several tents on some of the islands but there were really only a few other people on the lake--this was in August. We paddled to Ampersand Bay where we had parked our car.

There was a thread on here about dining options in Lake Placid. Check it out:

So far, you've gotten really good sugesstions. If you just want to relax, we have a small public beach on Mirror Lake but there are many places around the lake you can swim and soak in the sun. Also, plenty of shopping in quaint shops on Main St.
Have a great time and enjoy our town!

High end restaurant, Interlaken Inn never disappointed us. Many places to eat just take a walk on Main street and ask. One boat rental place is on Mirror lake.
Plenty to do. Check www.orda.org for list of some activities. Do search here under lake Placid and you find tons of recommendations. How long are you going to be there? Are you staying in Lake Placid or somewhere nearby?

Interlaken is hit ot miss...according to our friends who live in Lake Placid. And, ourselves who have dined there.
We have always enjoyed The Brown Dog for lunch or dinner.
Also, we have liked the other wine bar in town, Lumiere.
The Cottage is fun for a quick bite or cocktail, not great food.
The Mirror Lake Inn is beautiful, but our dinner was over priced and very tiny.
I would stay with-
The Brown Dog Cafe
Lumiere
Carribean Cowboy
Interlaken, only because it is just lovely, and if you know food will be hit or miss you won't be so disapointed.
The is Mirror Lake Boat rental right on Main street.I believe he also rents electric cars.
There are wonderful golf courses. My husband enjoys The Lake Placid Club.
Hope this helps--
