LA Tours/First time in LA!

I am visiting LA for the first time in early May. I am staying in Beverly Hills and would like to take the "Grand Tour of LA" by bus. Which company would you recommend? Starline, LA City Tours, Hollywood Tours or Guideline Tours? Has anyone every taken a tour and how was it? Thank You!

We were in the LA area in Dec. We took the all day tour through LA Tours. Our concierge recommended the company, probably no reason other than a kickback or something. We paid a deposit at the hotel. The tour was fine. The driver picked us up at our hotel, took us to their office, which was so close we could have walked if we had known. We paid the amount still due, then left on the tour. It was about 1/3 stars homes, 1/3 major sights, including the sign and a cemetary, stops on Rodeo Dr, etc, and about 1/3 misc. Stopped at Universal for lunch. The tour gave us a good overview (my husband had never been there before). We saw some things that we could scratch off the list, and some things that we knew we wanted to return for a more thorough visit. I felt it was worth the $$ to let someone else drive for awhile so we could look around. I hope this helps. Have fun!

We took the all day LA tour this past Christmas. Ours was a little different than babs001. The all day tour we did use to include star homes, but no longer does. I wish we could have done that but you have to take a separate tour just for that. Anyway, we were happy with the tour. We saw lots of the city in 1 day, something we could have never done on our own. We saw downtown and Olvera street, Mann's chinese theater, the hollywood sign from Mullholand drive, Farmer's market (lunch there), Venice beach (not impressed), and Santa Monica pier and promenade. Oh, and we drove thru beverly hills but didn't stop there. One family kept being late when it was time to get back on the bus and our driver got real mad! Have a good time.

Has anyone taken the "Grand Tour of LA" by Starline Tours?

Pianogirl, what tour company did you use?

I can give you driving tour of LA. I have lived here for almost forty years and know the area well. I am also familiar with the entire California coast, Las Vegas, The Bay area, San Diego etc. I can customize a tour for you based on your needs and wishes. This is a very easy place to get around in if you've lived her long enough. And I enjoy doing this. My rates are reasonable. If interested, please contact me at [email protected]

How was Beverly Hilton by the way. It is among our choices (others are Park Hyatt LA and Le Montrose)? Was there a lot of construction (i.e, noise) going on at the time you were there? Does it look attractive?

Igor.
