LA for third time- any new sights / must sees????
Hi there,
this will be our third time in LA and we are wondering about new things to see and do.
We will still enjoy all the old favourites but are wondering else to include.
We will have time before and after our cruise and then later trip to Mexico.
Thanks
Donna

The Pasadena area has much to offer - vibrant Old Town, Norton Simon Museum, The Huntington Library and Gardens, Gamble House, The Huntington (now a Langham hotel), lots of good dining choices, shopping for antiques, interesting travel book store - Distant Lands travel bookstore, Pasadena Playhouse, Burke Williams day spa.

I also loved Pasadena when we lived in LA years ago--I did not know about the renovations!
I presume you've already been to LaBrea Tar Pits.
Did you check out any of the several musuems adjacent to USC? Natural History has renovations going on, although we still went. We also went to Museum of Flight this summer, which the kids really liked. I believe the district is called Exposition Park.
Another idea: Go see a movie in Los Angeles. I can't tell you the best theatres with the latest sound upgrades, but do your research and find a good one.

Andeesue,
we will be hiring a car and are willing to drive to get to places.
Have done a lot of the touristy things before:
Venice beach, Santa Monica, Hollywood area ( stars, hall of fame , Manns), Universal Studios, Disneyland etc
We like shopping, markets, eating out, beaches, seeing the sights of a place and getting amongst the locals.
Thanks again everyone for your help

The Farmer's Market at 3rd and Fairfax and the adjacent Grove would be a nice stop - especially if you go to LACMA.
How about downtown to Olvera Street/Chinatown/Japantown?
The Arclight in Hollywood is great for swanky movie fun.
Check out if there is anything at the Hollywood Bowl or the Greek Theatre. (I don't know your dates).
