La Concha Motel?
Anybody got any opinions on this place?
It sounds interesting from something I read:
"A 1960s-era sign advertising color television is the first clue that La Concha Motel isn't like other Strip properties. ... The lobby looks as it must have on the motel's opening day in 1961. ... The front desk is a small affair and, if not for the lone woman standing behind it, one might mistakenly think La Concha is closed. The slot and poker machines that have become so entrenched in every nook and cranny of Las Vegas are conspicuously absent at La Concha."

I considered staying at this hotel, but it just didn't appeal to me because of the high prices for the rooms. There are much better places to stay for the prices they want. I'd suggest staying somewhere else and just go there for the sunset and rooftop bar.

Smalley, the La Concha is a lousy old motel. I would recommend avoiding it. There are usually plenty of value-oriented choices at clean hotels all over town. If you need help finding one, mention your dates, budget, and location preferences. The Fodorites here will help you out.

I can't believe that it's still there! I got stuck staying there once for a convention that was next door. If it still has those beds with the "magic fingers", it might be interesting for a truly tacky experience. Makes you wonder about some of the travel advice you get...
