Know anything about Delray Marriott
We are planning a trip to Palm Beach and we are trying to use Marriott points. It's hard to tell about the Delray Marriott. I would prefer to stay on the beach and it looks like this one is across the street from the beach, and I have only seen so-so reviews. Anyone with any feedback? We also have Hilton points, but nothing looked good for Palm Beach.

I don't know where you're reading the reviews, but the hotel is anything but so so. I've been going to Delray to visit grandparents for 25 years. this property used to be a holiday in. when it was bougth by marriott about 10 yrs ago, they did a huge reno and extension. the rooms are very nice and the pool area is definitely "resort style" with waterfall and poolside cocktail service. Yes it is across from the beach, but there are VERY few hotels ON the beach in that part of town. (see Breakers in Palm Beach) So it is an extremely quick and easy walk right across (literally 50 feet) A1A to one of the most beautiful beaches in S. Florida. Also, just south on A1A you'll find Boston's, with live music and good lunchtime food, an italian cafe, and some breakfast places. So if you're using points lucky you, this is as good a place as you're going to find. There is a nice jogging walking path there, going West on Atlantic right out of the Hotel and you can walk to a number of really good restos like sushi, pasta, etc., and you are pretty close to other areas like Lauderdale and PB. Okay, 2 restos you cant miss while you're down there, 1 is a pizza joint serving totally authentic ny pizza - it's called Dean Anthony's in Boynton. The other is Sunfish Grille in Pompano. On Atlantic Blvd (not atlantic ave). Don't miss this one. Best seafood I've had in FL, period.

Flopmeister is correct in his/her assessment of the Delray Marriott. I've stayed there twice in two years and I'd go back again in a heartbeat, even though I usually prefer a hotel directly on the beach.
I found the rooms to be well appointed and immaculate. The pool area also has a large jacuzzi, if that matters. I remember the lobby looking very impressive, more like a Ritz-Carlton than a Marriott.
If you go to Boston's, look out for their drink called the Boston Strangler. My husband and I each had one and we could barely walk back to the hotel!
Have fun!
