Know any great fares SF-NY?

I'm about to start looking for a 1-week late October trip. I think Jet Blue had a special going, but just thought I'd ask here if anyone knows of any other great deals. Thanks!

Thanks Jaredson. I'm actually in Marin, so SF or Oakland are about equal distance from my house. I guess I should have said SFO-NY or OAK-NY.

That's a great fare from SJ -- I'll check it out. You didn't specify, but it sounds like it's on American. It might be worth the extra drive, unless it's an early morning flight. My sleep is priceless!

The $150 fare is from LGA or JFK to San Jose on United and can be flown on Tues, Wed, or Sat. Connect in either Chicago or Denver.

Great fare. I would jump on that if the days work with your trip.

Hi, Marilyn!

I did a quick check and JetBlue seems to be your best bet for nonstop flights! They have six nonstop flights from Oakland to JFK, starting from 7am, 9am in the morning to 9:30pm in the evening. Hope they are not still sharing passenger information!

American and Continental both have nonstop flights out of San Jose. American has two nonstop flights: 8:15am and 11:25am while Continental flies at 10:15pm with a redeye.

Pricewise, they seem to be about the same: about $250-270 round trip!

Didn't check San Francisco, but suspect you may be able to find the same sort of deals leaving SFO.

Happy travels!

Thanks, everybody! I didn't really intend for someone else to do my research -- just thought someone may have recently booked a great fare. But I do appreciate it!!

Hmmmmm...very strange...jaredson's first reply to my post seems to have been deleted. Anybody have any theories on this?

Hi, Marilyn - no problemo! (Guess we'll have to get used to saying that, if Schwartzenegger gets to be governor! LO!) I had to check for some airfares for other cities, so just input yours at the same time.

Jaredson is the multiple poster, who gets deleted a day or two after his postings.

Have a safe trip!

Thanks for the explanation, jason. I kinda remembered the name from another post so I thought that might be it, but the post was entirely innocent. I guess they just deleted everything from that name.

As for Aaahnold, bite your tongue.

Lo! Dan! Laughing my fool head off!

"San Joseness"!!!! ROFLMFHO!

Actually, we've just returned from a wonderful dinner at Cazuelas, the new Mexican restaurant in Santana Row. Our third visit there this month. Had a heavenly Carnitas a la Michoacana, the special for Thursday, plus a wonderful cactus veggie dish plus a few others and a wonderful white wine from Rueda, Spain. I'm almost - mind, I said, ALMOST - ready to claim that this restaurant is close to godliness! Lo!

Thanks for a great laugh, Dan!

I booked on Jet Blue for about $250 round trip. Didn't really want any stops, and since my husband and I are not returning on the same day, the logistics of flying out of San Jose were daunting. Anything under $300 round trip to NY is a deal, in my opinion.

Thank you to all and to all a goodnight.

Thanks, flyingkate. Even though I had already purchased my tickets, I was curious to see the fare on airtran. But I couldn't get any flights between SFO and LGA, even with the maximum flexibility on dates. Maybe they don't have direct service yet.

Thanks Jaredson and Jason (hmmm...both names begin with J...is there a connection? NO! just kidding!!!)

I'm glad I got a good deal on the airfare because I'm in sticker shock over hotel prices. It has been YEARS since I've stayed in a hotel in NY. I usually stay with friends. Apparently the prices have doubled since I last had the pleasure.

I've flown them before and it's a pleasant enough experience. The individual tv screens are fine, but they don't show movies, just tv. Leather seats are comfy, but basically no food. That's ok, I'd just as soon bring my own the way it's been going!

What I really like about Jet Blue is the 1-way cheap pricing (similar to Southwest) and I found their employees to be exceptionally friendly, cheerful, and eager to help.

Thanks, Tobin. The front rows were all pretty much filled, so we're towards the back anyway. I like the way Jet Blue shows the flight and lets you choose your seat from those still available. Wish all the airlines did that with online ticketing.

My perspective has changed -- a 5 hour transcontinental flight is now a fairly short hop compared to Europe or Asia.
