Hmmm. Most people even moderately familiar with the area know that Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills are Outer Banks towns. Maybe Melissa is staying in KH and attending the First Flight activities in KDH. Maybe she just got her Ks and Hs mixed up.
Hope you have great time Melissa. Looking forward to your trip report. Just make sure you include a really really detailed header so you don't get people like Curious all agitated.

That's going to be a great celebration!! Hope you bring warm clothes cause it's probably going to be pretty raw that close to the ocean.
Kill Devil Hills - Kitty Hawk - close your eyes and you won't know which one you're in.

according to the First Flight centennial fact sheet as follows:
Few moments in history have done more to capture the essence of the American spirit - freedom of the pursuit of dreams - than the Wright brothers' historic first flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.... twelve seconds that changed the world!
The National Park Service, State of North Carolina, First Flight Centennial Foundation and North Carolina's Outer Banks invite you to join us at Wright Brothers National Memorial to honor the Wright brothers and the first century of flight. The First Flight Centennial Celebration, December 12-17, 2003, will feature special programs, events, exhibits, shows and festivities which will highlight our aviation heritage and inspire our pursuit of the skies.

I was kind of kidding about the Kill Devil Hills part of my original post. Everyone identifies the Wright Brother's First Flight as originating from Kitty Hawk. The only reason Kitty Hawk got the original mention is because it had the nearest telegraph to transmit the news of the event.
Contrary to other responses, I'm very familiar with the Outer Banks. I also can tell the difference between Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills.
By the way, my Uncle Chuck has his picture in the Wright Brother's Museum. It's truly an area and place not to be missed if you have any interest in aviation.
