Kings Mill Resort in Williamsburg, VA?
Hi, Has anyone ever stayed at this resort and what will the weather be like in early October? We are taken our two sons (age 14). What are some of the best sites (history) to see? We will also spend some time in Busch Gardens and then head down to Virginia Beach for two nights. Thanks, Nat

The weather willl be warm (70s, 80s) but we should be past the dog days of summer heat and humidity.
Kingsmill is an excellent choice. We live here and always recommend it to visitors.
You probably are aware that Busch Gardens is only open on weekends at that time of year.

We have stayed there 3 times over the past 12 years and have not been disappointed. The rooms are very nice, the food at the restaurants is consistently good. The pools and recreation areas are well maintained. The little par 3 nine hole golf course is fun. Love the shuttles to Busch Gardens and Water Country (not sure operating in Oct). The grounds are lovely, lots of landscaping and flowers. Would go back there in a heartbeat.

Are you golfers, tennis players, bike riders? Kingsmill offers all of that so look into lessons or clinics if you are interested. Rent bikes to bike the loop through the neighborhood. (you might see me out with my little, puffy pom) You can rent kayaks and boats to paddle on the pond and the new putt putt course might be open by then.
Make sure to watch a sunset down by the marina and go to Regattas for a casual dinner so the boys can shoot hoops or play in the game room while you wait for dinner.
History? Lots of it. Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown, both Jamestowns are worth seeing. Drive the parkway to see if there are any naval ships at the weapons station.
Let us know if you need more info or restaurant recs.

October the weather can be very variable, really warm during the day and chilly at night, might get some really warm or cool days - so bring clothes you can layer. You will enjoy kingsmill. In October Busch Gardens will be decorated for the Howl-O-Scream events, and at night some attractions become scarier, there are costumed characters wandering around the park to jump out and scare people - 14 yo boys will think it is TERRIFIC! Do spend some time going to Colonial Williamsburg, drive Colonial Parkway to Yorktown and Jamestown.

My kids love Kingsmill. They have a great 9 hole course along the water plus beautiful running/walking paths and tennis courts. Plus all the indoor facilities - raquetball, pool etc.
As a matter of fact, we wanted to take a last minute trip and everyone voted for Kingsmill.
Have fun.
