We're looking for a new bed and have narrowed down our search to two commercial Serta models. Their "Suite Dreams" mattress set is (supposedly) custom made to Hilton specs and sells for $1450 (cal king), while the "Presidential Suite" set is also widely used in the hotel industry (Marriott, Omni etc) and sells for about half as much ($750) at online retailers.

For anyone who's recently stayed at both a Hilton and Marriott (or Omni), did you have a preference for the bed at either hotel? We're trying to figure out if the extra $700 is just Hilton's markup, or whether their Suite Dreams mattress really is any better.

I don't think someone elses preferece will help you when selecting a mattress. It's such an individual thing. Some like hard mattresses, some like soft, etc. Can't you go to a mattress store and try them or book a night in one of the hotels if that will help. I know we had the "Sleep Number Bed" the last time we stayed at a Radisson. That concept really shows how different people prefer different mattresses.

fdecarlo, I don't think this is off-topic at all. Many hotel chains are offering beds for sale now, and certainly you get exposure to these when you travel- they promote it in the room w/the ads there.

I don't know about the particular Sertas you are asking about. A friend of mine just bought the Westin Heavenly bed set up, which is very pricey. I need a new mattress and I loked at Westin's but you can't buy just the matress from them, you have to buy the box springs too. Perhaps hta tis how it is with all the hotel mattress deals.

I had no idea Raddison is using Sleep Number beds. Thanks for that info. I want to try one out (for a longer period than just in the showroom, and don't want to deal w/the 30 day return), so I think I will look into booking a night to do so.

I think you should visit the site where you will got top quality mattresses why are you looking for the mattress in the hotels.The best manufacturer of the mattresses are the bed butler company.I had experienced their mattresses,it is really nice.On the other hand I don't have idea about the both two you are asking.
