Blue Heaven serves seafood such as red snapper etc. Here is their website: http://blueheavenkw.homestead.com/Bl..._Key_West.html

When we were in Nassau, I didn't really see any bargains on jewelry. I do like Whitfield Jack's selection, if nothing else it is a good place to browse and you can get on their mailing list for a catalog.

Love Blue Heaven! It's a great place for brunch. The main dining area is outside and these crazy chickens run around all over the place. (I can never get over the chickens in KW!)

Stone crabs will be in season until May. Don't miss them! The best Cuban food in Key West is outside of Old Town, you would need a car or moped. Sorry I can't tell you where, I always get lost and drive around in circles then suddenly it appears!

Where to stay? Definitely a B&B. I recommend The Harbor Inn. My parents prefer The Pilot House. The Harbor Inn has the better location. Plus it is steps from the best bakery to get that slice of keylime pie, covered in chocolate, and frozen on a stick BarabaraS mentioned (just envision it!). Both B&Bs are reasonably priced (for Key West).

And now for the best news... Spring break will cover the entire month of March. I am a college prof, and our spring break is the second week of March. I suspect you will be safe in April. BTW, it would take a pretty dedicated biker to ride from Daytona to Key West for a day trip. That's a 7-8 hour drive!

Thanks gumboula, I will definately try the stone crab. Sounds great. And key lime pie, which is one of my favorite things in the world. Did you suggest a place to eat the stone crab? Would that be Blue Heaven?

If you enjoy using scented bath products & lotions, Key West Aloe is a good place to stop (also suntan products)! Key Lime cookies can also be purchased there.

Blue Heaven is my hands down favorite restaurant in Key West. What ambiance! We ate in the courtyard under a huge oak. There was a live jazz group playing. A cat or two sashayed around. The air was soft, the food smacked of the Caribbean--quintessential Keys experience. If I could dine at only one place there, it'd be Blue Heaven. Laid back wonderful!

Heavens,
Unfortunately it has been eons since I have been in Key West in time for stone crabs (usually just make it in the summer, despite the heat). Perhaps someone else will have a suggestion. But as long at they are chilled, cracked, and accompanied by a nice mayo-dijon mustard combo, they will be great!

Go to Half Shell Raw Bar for stone crabs. Ohhhhh they are sooo good. I think they come by the pound and I could eat my weight in them!

I found that the jewelry was inexpensive except for in Mallory Square. They will quote you a high price and if you walk away they will come down on the price. This was the street vendors where you watch the famous sunset. However, I found the jewelry to be inexpensive in a shop off of Duval. If you have your back towards Sloppy Joe's you can see it. Sorry I can't remember the name but I know it is across from what was the orignal Sloppy Joe's. The Conch Republic was a GREAT place to eat. I highly reccommend you go there. Maybe you can find your Conch there. I had oysters that were wonderful. Have a great time!
