Key West Tour

During our winter stay in Florida, we are planning a oine or two night stay in Key West.

During our research we came accross two types of guided tours in Key West:
- Conch Tour Train
- Old Town Trolley

Any comments or recommendations for one or the other would be appreciated.

We did the Old Town Trolley tour when we were there in Mar 06. I like it because you can get on and off whereas the other you cannot. It's a great way to get acquainted with the town!

I did the Conch Train in early November while I was there. It was great! I guess it really does depend upon whether you want the on/off option or just to take the tour. I believe both are run by the same company and routes are similar. I asked our train driver what the difference was and he said the train tour doesn't go by the high rise hotels on the North end of the Key.

Brochures with Maps of each can be found here so you can compare routes: http://www.historictours.com/brochures/index.htm

Only thing else to add is do the tour close to the start of your trip. I did it on the last day I was there and it would have been even better if I'd done it earlier to put everything in context.

And if you happen to be a Jimmy Buffett fan, the Trails of Margaritaville Tour was great. http://www.trailsofmargaritaville.com/

Thank you both for your comments and links.

Basically, we'll have to decide if we want the on/off option or not.

The ride is listed at $25/person but "Trusted Tours & Attractions" has a special at $22.50, all-included. Did anyone book in advance with them or before boarding the ride?

No, we didn't book in advance. There are a lot of locations for tickets.

Enjoy your trip!
