Key West or Miami

I'm in a real dilemma, I have an excellent trip planned for the end of May with my boyfriend, starting in New York for 3 days then flying to stay with a friend in Miami an hour from Miami Beach for 2 days then we have 6 days left... were planning to drive to Key West for 4 nights and South Beach for 2 nights, would you say this is the best way to do it as we want to make the most of our time but get lots of relaxing in as well...

What are the top unmissable things to do in Key West and South Beach, we love funky bars and restaurants, I love the beach and my boyfriend loves snorkelling etc... what are the beaches like in Key West - is it essential to get a hotel with a pool?

thanks in advance...rx

First, do a search on this board for Key West. There are volumes of information on all aspects of it.

Here's how to get to the one funky bar you must not miss. Going south from Miami on Rte 1, you'll come to Homestead and Florida City. Just after leaving the latter, you'll see see a sign for Card Sound Road, on your left. Take it. You'll go back a few miles, and you'll come to a toll bridge. On the right, before crossing, is Alabama Jack's.

Since KW doea not have much as far as beaches g, I suggest you get a guest house or hotel with a pool if you liketo laze in the sun. Check out Heron House
Have fun & if your an open type of perso don't miss the Garden of Edan for a special tatoo

The beaches at Key West are not the best but the snorkelling is great! There is a coral reef ( the only one in North America). Key West is great for all water activities. It also has some wild and crazy nightlife , many bars , good restaurants , fresh seafood and interesting people in the Conch Republic ( they declared independence in the mid 80's , may have been something in the water! )
