Key West Hotels - Need Help

My girlfriend and I will be travelling to Key West. We are trying to find a nice, romantic hotel that has a ocean view. We are willing to spend up to $300/night. We generally do not like B&B's. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Josh - It really depends on the time of year whether you'll be able to find what you want in your price range. During the winter months the prices skyrocket, but in the summer - which is hot and HUMID - the prices are much lower. On the Gulf side, you might check the Hyatt, the Ocean Key Resort, the Hilton or the Galleon. These places are practically side by side, but with them all you'd have to request a water view.

Most of the B&Bs are romantic. Most have nice gardens, attractive rooms and some have (smallish) pools or hot tubs. If you don't like the traditional B&B (ie, a small place with only 5-6 rooms, and everyone underfoot) try a larger B&B, such as Eaton Lodge. My favorite place in Key West is the Gardens Hotel.
I prefer smaller places v. larger, hulking hotels. To me, they are much more romantic.

ooopss --- I just saw that you specified "ocean" view. Scratch EVERYTHING off my list. That means you're left with the big hotels.
(might I add, that though these places do have a beach, they are very tiny. Key West isn't Destin when it come to beaches.)
Have fun.
