Key West Hotel question

I am looking for information or a review of the Pier House Resort & Carribean Spa in Key West.

The Pier House gets very mixed reviews. I know a couple who stayed there twice: the first time they loved it; the second time they hated it. Although some rooms overlook the Gulf, most overlook the parking lot.

The location is great, and we've really enjoyed their restaurant (the lunch one, not dinner). Is there a specific question you have?

The Pier House is in a great location at the foot of Duval Street and it does have a semi nude mini beach, however across the street is The Ocean Key which offers 14 floors with excellent ocean and sunset views for similar money. You must, however, love to be right in the action as both places are adjacent to the nightly sunset celebration... for my money I prefer to be a few blocks away at the Marquesa hotel or the Gardens Hotel...

My husband and I stayed at the Key West Harbor Inn last July and it is located at 219 Elizabeth street. Phone 1.800.608.6569. This is just a lovely little spot, just a short walk to Duval. More reasonable than Pier house or Marquesa (good place to eat). If you're looking for a view, you're not really going to get it here. But it is very clean, private and quiet.

Hello,

If you want to get a true feel of Key West, you should try and stay at an inn, b&b. They have some beautiful ones there, Gardens Hotel, Simonton, Marquesa, Heron House, Le Mer and Dewet House, just to name a few. We stayed at La Ted Da (don't stay there) but toured all of thr above. Pier House is very pricey, the beach is tiny and it is mostly concrete. Pretty hotel though, good for a drink @ sunset, Enjoy!

My real problem with the Pier House is that it skews young, which is okay if you're young.

I, too, prefer smaller, quieter places.

We stayed at Ocean Key for several days in a suite overlooking the pool and Mallory Square. My next trip, we were in a B&B. I much preferred the Ocean Key Resort. It's the best location in Key West with their famous pier and you can sit on your deck and watch the sunset and action. The kitchen was fantastic. We brought our own blender and made drinks and sat on the deck just chilling out. Nothing better! However, it's pricey. I think for the $$$, I'd prefer Ocean Key. I've also heard mixed reviews of Pier House. However, I rarely hear a bad review of Ocean Key (except from people who had the cheapest rooms, which are usually the worst views!)

We stayed at the Ocean Key last year and it was excellent. We were upgraded from a jr. suite to a 1 bedroom suite at check-in. Breakfast was also included in the price. The location was the best.
