Going to Key West for the first time in August. Anyone have any info on the Hilton? What is the Sunset Key?

Stayed there last July. Had a room on the second floor overlooking the water. The view was astounding...got coupons for free breakfast every morning we were there. Great hotel, great location.

No, we did not go to Sunset Key. We probably passed through it on our drive to Miami but it was not a destination. You'll love Key West, my wife and I take two vacations a year. One with the kids and one without. Without question Key West and Maine are great places and you'll have a good time.

If you rent a scooter, do not rent one near the Key West Hilton, spend a few bucks on a taxi (or walk) and go to Moped Hospital. Their mopeds are much newer and the rental rates are about 1/2 of those in Old Town. I'm envious of you...I'd like to be heading back to the Keys soon.

Sunset Key is a wonderful little private island with a fabulous resort of the same name owned by the Hilton. You get there only by taking a boat that leaves every half hour from the dock at the Hilton. It is featured on the cover of July Victoria magazine. The accomadations are all gorgeous cottages, with a first class restaurant. A perfect place to get away from the riff-raff of Key West, yet easily accessible so you can go into town to drink and dine.

We are headed to Key West for Labor Day. I wanted to stay at SUnset Key but its >500/room and they wont cash in any of my Hilton points. (I have 200k.)

Is the regular Hilton nice?
Anyone been to the Courtyard By the Sea or the Courtyard Waterfront?
Neither are mentioned here.
