Kauai-Poipu Beach Questions

We are planning a trip to Kauai in January for a couple of weeks and are looking to stay on Poipu Beach. Which hotel/condo/rental is CLOSEST to a swimable part of the beach? I have tried looking at maps and specific hotel websites and am having trouble determing which one is on/closest to the beach. Thank You!!!!

We stayed at the Sheraton right on Poipu. The only reason we stayed there was because I got a kick butt deal on an Ocean Front room & it was right on Poipu Beach. If you don't get a good deal, then I would recommend one of the condo's next to it (I'm sure a map could give you the names). They seemed nice and they were right on the beach as well.

We have stayed at the Sheraton and Kiahuna Plantation. Both have swimable beaches. Sheraton you can get a room overlooking the ocean. Kiahuna are condos. Some are right on the beach, but others are set back among beautiful gardens. No air-conditioning. That's why we switched to Sheraton. I don't need it, but DH does. Still don't know what "DH" stands for. We got ours as package deals, but you can work with each directly.

Also there are Kiahuna owners renting individual units that you can find surfing the Web. The perfect location at Poipu is the new Marriott, but it wasn't open last time we were there.

Thank you for the advice!! There seem to be so many resorts and condos in this location I get confused trying to determine which is located. I will use the Sheraton as the location to either stay at or near. Again, thank you both for your advice!

The Ultimate Kauai guide has great information on resorts in Kauai and I think they usually tell if the beach in front is swimmable or not.

We purchased the Maui Revealed book for our Maui trip and loved it and I will pick up a copy of the Kauai book tonight at Borders. Thanks for the tip!

Beach right next door small but nice. You can snorkel right in front of the condo with the largest (smaller ones too) sea turtles. A little tricky getting out to them, but well worth it.

Baby beach is not far a bit of a hike, best to drive.

The views from the condo are awesome!

The Sheraton is has the best beach on the south shore, and it is only a few steps from the ocean front rooms. While the Hyatt is a nicer hotel, the beach there is not as swimmable as the beach at the Sheraton. As other posters ahve stated the Kiahuna Plantation condos are reight next door to the Sheraton and share the same beach. Only issue there is alot of the condos are back aways from the beach. The grounds at Kiahuna are very nice and the walk to the beach is very short really.
