Kauai and Oahu with a toddler
My family will be visiting Hawaii for the first time. We have an 18-month old and are looking for activities in Kauai (5 days)and Oahu (2 days) that she will enjoy.

I know exactly what your toddler will enjoy:
1) going for a stroller ride with mommy & daddy
2)splashing in the hotel pool with mommy & daddy
3) playing in the sand at the beach with mommy & daddy
4) going to a store with mommy & daddy
5) chasing birds at the park with mommy & daddy
6) reading a story with mommy & daddy
7) playing on the swings and slides at a playground with ....
yep...parenting toddlers. very easy when you figure out that they will enjoy anything you do that centers around them!

I can't give you any advice re: Oahu; but we found the following locations to be the bests bets for kids on Kauai when our son was three: Lydgate Park and the nearby Kamalani Playground on the East Shore; Poipu Beach Park, Baby Beach and Keiki Cove in Poipu (South Shore); and Salt Pond Beach Park on the West Side. Your little one may also enjoy short walking tours of gardens that have tropical birds or other animals. Smith's Tropical Plantation is one that comes to mind. Have fun!

Thank you so much, sap! Your suggestions are most helpful, as we are looking for Hawaii-specific suggestions. My friend provided suggestions on some family-friendly beaches in Oahu, so we're covered! Thanks again!

Ditto on Lydgate Park and Kamalani Playgorind on Kauai. But also seek out the new-ish Kamalani Kai play bridge which is loacted about a 1/3 mile south of the Kamalani Playground (follow the new bike path.) This fanciful bridge will delight your toddler.
