SeeHag - the construction is not impactful @ the Beach Club. I was pleasantly surprised over all by our experience. Obviously get an Ocean view if you can. Ours was listed as "partial" but there was nothing partial about it. It was magical. Being on the Harbor side would have been very different (It was ugly looking out that side of the building). The construction is next to the JW and I honestly never heard it and am generally VERY sensitive to that sort of thing.
I recall telling DH I would be very unhappy if we had been staying at the JW - due to the construction and noise level there.
I have stayed at the Marriott in Maui as well - but that was on our honeymoon about 14 years ago - so I cannot comment on it now - at the time it was lovely (but it was not the Wailea - although I always wanted to stay over on that side).

Deb,
Montelucia was stellar!
They upgraded us to a gorgeous suite and they had champagne and chocolate truffles waiting for us.
We had several friends stop by for the big pool party for the holiday and it was a blast.
Best to you always Deb!
You and sf have such class and I love taking both your advice and I sure appreciate it and so does my wife!
Terranea resort is next on the list for $204.
Perfect Escapes is a luxury website but with a beer budget!

Aloha SeeHag..
We are using Starwood points but we did look into briefly the Marriott Waikiki that was a solid 4*.
The Hilton Hawaiian Village is $159 on expedia.com and that is a solid 4* and totally renovated in the last year.
That is one hell of a deal.
You have to weight the cost of the room on its own vs. the points to get that room where you remember all the blood, sweat and tears for those points and you can get a week for $700 a week with oceanfront views..I rather buy on my own and save the points for some other property.

I too liked the Ko Olina. Have gone twice. Great for families. And i lov hte lagoons.
But...That is not the lush side of the island--it's very dry out there.. Went to Ihilani for drinks, and was surprised by the ordinary pool.
If your main goal is to "chill"--i agree with the others, there are better places on Oahu (or other islands).
What about Kailua area over the mountain from Honolulu?

Dawn,
Not to get off topic but how are you and your family settling in? Have you had your surgery? I just talked to our bf couple and she asked if we would be ready to go to Hawaii by spring break because that is her next vacation so maybe we will be there at the same time!
