I am married to the man who says you can sleep on the plane home. He sleeps like a rock anywhere. I, on the other hand, have difficulty sleeping everywhere. I also like downtime in the vacation. He packs as much as possible in a day. The only time he is relaxed is a beach type vacation. Even then, he is doing every water sport activity available. Thank God the kids like that stuff too.
He is a go-go-go kind of person. I am the planner and when he arrives to the destination, I see him grab about a hundred activity pamphlets. I could have read about each one, but I have to let him plan an activity. He is impossible otherwise! LOL
We are off to Europe this summer and will be traveling with relatives. I am hoping the first week that we are alone with our kids, we can adjust to the time change and not go too crazy. The second week will be packed with constantly moving and seeing it all! I am looking forward to this trip, but also wary of the constant running I know I will do.
Some have said above that if your job is crazy, then you like downtime when you come home. He is always driving all over and his job is demanding. I think he is just ADD. (they hyper active kind).

Well, I want to be busier than I am at home. My husband is ok with renting a car in Hawaii, but in the Caribbean, he won't. So, we hire a driver and it should be noted that if he had his way we would do only A/I's. I enjoy getting out and seeing things. If I've spent the money to go to an extraordinary place, I want to see it! However, I'm fine with one snorkeling trip per vacation, for instance and don't need to go every day. Photo op's are always good and help with the memories.

So glad you topped this thread, clarasong, as I missed it the first time around!

Funny DH and I just finished this conversation less than 3 hours ago, as I'm in the midst of planning a trip to Fiji for two weeks next year to celebrate our 25th anniv and renew our vows.

He's the go go guy, and I'm the chilled out, laid back one. Don't get me wrong, I love the adventure of exploration, but give me a gorgeous view, my camera, a beach, a towel, a snorkel, and I'm happy.

We're trying to decide if 2 wks in Fiji on very secluded islands will make him crazy. I'm afraid so if he's not fishing every day... so, maybe we'll do one week in Fiji, one week on O'ahu and have the best of both.

Love this question... and esp reading the diversity we all have!

I'd love to hear what others do when their mate is opposite like we are...

I do not take vacations to relax. I like to spend at least 90% of my time doing or seeing something. I do enjoy relaxing by a pool or beach. But I can relax just fine at home.
