Seriously, after being dragged to a couple of J. Buffett concerts, and seeing everything that went on at them, the way people behaved, the idea of spending my vacation with those kind of people -- well, I'd rather forego a vacation and just keep working.

Steelersfan- yes NJ had exactly 9 tickets left yesterday when I looked. And of course when I went to buy them there were only single seats. BUT I waited for the page to refresh and got 2 seats together in section 101 which is great because lately I've been "on the lawn" for nearly every concert I've been to this summer.
I am 36 and have waited for over 10 years to get tickets as they usually sell out in seconds for his show.
So I'm excited and excited for you too. We will compare notes after your show.
For sure!
Have you heard the new version of "When the Coast is Clear"? Written, I believe, for the free concert he gave recently in FL....I'm guessing that it will be played at this season's concerts.
And soon we'll know!
Congrats on snagging those tix.
I have a friend who is very good at getting tix online for us in the tiny window of time when there are tix available, (which is one morning in March for the summer concert)---
one year it was not to be, so we took a road trip to Columbus where they had plenty of tix.

I guess I'm one of "those kind of people" because this summer I've seen Phish and Further and the tailgating was really something else. I mean "interesting".
But I think it's good that I do things that are fun and make me happy.
If I didn't I'd probably end up criticizing strangers online like some kind of loser.
Peace

That video clip of Buffett was a MONTH after his original statements and is clearly an orchestrated "make good" so that people can point to this as "that's not what I see"...
I'm with frankie and the others ... that $275 is a waste of $$$ ... 2 hours of drunken stoopid!!!

So that's what happened to those whiners!
(never heard of your other two concerts, but glad you enjoyed them).

I assume you're talking about Buffett's visit on June 5 to Pensacola with Charlie Crist. He was saying "This will pass" while talking about the future of tourism on the coast (and those whose livelihood depend on that tourism). That doesn't equate to a lack of concern for the environmental impact of the oil spill. If you put aside your presumptions and actually see what he had to say that day you will see it is entirely consistent with the Cooper interview:
http://www.newser.com/story/91466/ji...will-pass.html
http://www.wkrg.com/gulf_oil_spill/a...2010_10-54-pm/ (check the end of the video where he says he's not happy with anything BP has done)
http://www.oldies989.com/Article.asp...592&spid=28213 (ABC News radio report of the June 5 visit saying Buffett talked about his concerns on the use of dispersants then)
Jun 6 story in Pensacola News Journal:
On Saturday, Buffett stood by his buddy Gov. Charlie Crist and said the oil spill should prompt us all to pursue solar and wind power and stop using so much oil.
Buffett -- decked out in flip-flops, shorts, shades and a tattered cap that said "All who wander are not lost" -- is a partner in the $50 million, 162-room, Gulf-front Margaritaville Beach Hotel opening on Pensacola Beach next weekend.
"I've been through hurricanes, earthquakes, been shot at by the Jamaican SWAT teams. Nothing really bothers me," he said. "We're going to be open for business come hell or high water. People in the Panhandle are tough people."
Marilyn Woodbury-Hess, the hotel's developer, recently brought Buffet into the project.
Buffett said residents and visitors should get out and about. If there's no oil, enjoy the beaches. If there is oil, volunteer to help clean it up, he said.
"This is an environmental disaster nobody asked for over here," he said. "The biggest thing is to not get the sky-is-falling attitude. Everybody's been through hurricanes for hundreds of years here."

the facts are that he minimized the situation because he was in jeopardy of losing big money on his new hotel... when he realized how serious the situation was, he changed his tune to add the rest of the drama... I only reported what I read in the Media that he was taking HEAT over minimizing the spill... your upcoming Apology accepted... now move on!

I heard Keith Richards opened his own resort. You stay in a tree until you fall out. Every hour is Jack Daniels hour and the bath flakes are Keith's father.
The Bill Wyman honeymoon suite/nursery is an unusal addition as is The Brian Jones Pool.
And every guest gets an "I slept with Mick" t-shirt as a parting gift.

garyt22, what in the world have I said above that you think I should apologize for? It's you that's chosen to issue a series of insults in this thread.
What I showed to you was that in fact he didn't "change his tune" at all. On his June 5 visit he had specifically expressed displeasure with BP's handling of the spill, and concern over the level of use of dispersants, entirely consistent with his later Anderson Cooper interview.
The fact that he said that coastal residents will utilize their resilient natures to bounce back was not minimizing the environmental effect of the spill as you said above ("Is he that interested in launching the Hotel that he will deny the damages caused to the environment").
Yes, he was there with the governor of FL to promote tourism to the area, including to his hotel. This is not a bad thing to the many in the area whose livelihoods have been hurt by the spill (including the hundreds that were lining up for job interviews at his resort).

I'm baaaaack from the concert Steelersfan.
It was the best concert I have ever seen. I was 20 rows from the stage and could see perfectly. The music was fantastic. 2 encores which my boyfriend (well ex) says NEVER happens.
Anyway, tailgating was amazing, very civilized, elaborate set ups, the kind people next to us helped us with our tent. When he did "Pirate Looks at 40" the place went wild!!!!
I hope you have the best time at your show. I'm not listening to the show tonight because honestly I tried to go tonight up until about 4 hours ago but it's tough during the week, so I will listen later on XM later (sigh)
I found some cute parrot glasses and a parrot "headpiece" to wear during tailgating.
So in closing I had the best time, good drinks, made new friends, and best of all-GREAT MUSIC!!!
YOU WILL HAVE A BLAST!!!

Except that it almost ALWAYS happens at a JB Concert! We've been enjoying the new CD called "Encores". Was your last encore the new Gulf Shores version of When the Coast is Clear?

Yes that's something we've always experienced, very kind friendly folks at these concerts. Everyone helping everyone else, sharing food and drinks, just having a good good time together. It's a very special atmosphere. So glad you got to experience it finally!
