Don't overlook this possibility: sometimes you can spend one night at a "park-sleep-fly" hotel, park for free for a week, and end up spending less money than if you pay for parking at the airport. Can't guarantee that, but it worked for me one time. I considered it a free night's stay at a hotel.

The hotels that offer park and fly at JFK are generally lousy. I found this. http://www.aboutairportparking.com/n...irport-parking

There are other sites too like longtermparking.com. They have coupons you can download. I save a ton of money using one of their coupons. They have several offsite JFK lots on their site. I will never park at the airport's parking lot again.

Just an update from June 2012...
We parked at JFK LongTerm Parking (not the airport long term parking lot) last month and had no problems. They were cheaper than the Parking Spot down the street (although the Parking Spot was cool with their car elevators!). We didn't have to wait more than a few minutes for pick-up at the airport and our car had been pulled out and was cooling off once we got to the lot. Paying took about a minute. We'd use them again.
We used the site above, got a coupon for $14.95 a day with every 7th day free. It was a great deal.
