I wasn't totally sure where to post this, but it is a travel question about a location in the US, so I figured this was as good a place as any. DH, DS, and I are flying out of JFK to Dublin on Dec. 7. We will probably be in JFK for quite a while, and were thinking about buying passes for club lounge access. Aer Lingus confirmed that we would be able to do this, and said it would be about $35 each. He also said Aer Lingus uses the "Sky Lounge" in Terminal 4, which was operated by Northwest. This is a little mysterious to me, but I thought might be the Oasis Lounge, which seems to be what Delta/Northwest use in Terminal 4.

Does that sound right? And does it seem like a reasonable use of $35? It does seem to include a certain amount of food/booze, which would make it seem relatively reasonable, and JFK is such a miserable airport that having comfortable seats and access to a less public bathroom seem like positives as well.

This is a no-brainer. Of course you should do it. BTW, $35/per person is very reasonable for this.

Depending on the airline and the lounge, either through the airline or at the lounge desk. They won't all let you do it though. I never do it, since I'm usually fairly broke and it doesn't seem worth it, but I'm going to be in JFK for a while, and it is an awful airport.

There are two lounges - "The Lounge" (formerly the Sky Lounge I think) and the "Oasis" in Terminal 4. Not sure which one the Aer Lingus people were talking about - "The Lounge" appears to offer day passes ($40) but I'm not sure if the Oasis does too. The Oasis has gotten somewhat better reviews.

Both lounges are "landside," i.e. before security. So you'd need to allocate adequate time to get through security after leaving the lounge. But $35 or $40 can be good value before an overnight flight.

I'm not entirely sure either, to be honest, although I probably don't care that much which it is, particularily since they both seem to offer food and their own bathrooms, which are my main motivators. I get the distinct impression that Aer Lingus changes its partnerships around a bit for these things too, but that they are partnering with Delta for the moment, which would suggest the Oasis. Some lounge review website listed Aer Lingus as a participating airline for the Oasis (which seems to be under the aegis of KLM).

The one called The Lounge is my favourite. You just pay $40 on the door to get in and all food and drink is included. It's got a shower too, not that I used it but it is there.
