Jekyll Island, Things to do & good eats

Hi
Spending this weekend in Jekyll Island. Looking for suggestions on things to do and casual places to eat or avoid. If you have done any bird watching any special places to view.
Thanks

Was there again about a week ago. Seajays and Blackbeards restaurants have good water views. There is a good bicycle path on the northern end of the island, just above Driftwood Beach, running to the fishing pier that cuts through the marshes. Saw gators, deer and typical water birds. Avoid the noseeums, if you can. I think that the best beaches and dunes are at the southern end, around St. Andrews.

What airport do you fly into for Jekyll Island? A friend went last year and just loved it.

Rent bikes on the island one day and explore the area. There is also a place for horseback riding (guided). Splurge on one meal at the Jekyll Island club - they have a great croquet course there as well.

Francot:
Both Jekyll and neighboring St. Simons have small airstrips. Savannah, GA is a short drive, when the interstate is not being "improved."

A few years ago we did the island tour and stopped at the outdoor restaurant at the end of the pier in front of the historical park. Can't remember the name of it. They had the BEST peel and eat spiced shrimp we have ever eaten. It was right off the boat.
