Jazz Clubs with teens

I wanted to know if going to BB King's place or the Iridium is Ok for 13 and 16 year old. Will we feel "comfortable?" Really interested if the management frowns on it. Besides Broadway shows, any other suggestons for nightime that adult might enjoy? Thanks

I would call. The reason I say that is because BB King's is more of a Disneyesque jazz place and not a downtown, dirty, smoke
filled joint. They probably will not be able to get into Iridium at night.

You know - Iridium (http://www.iridiumjazzclub.com/information.shtml) offers student discounts - also the schedule is posted - call - I bet they allow teens . . . also try the Blue Note on West 3rd. The Village Vanguard (Is it still open?) on 7th Avenue South. Also - the Musuem of Natural history(www.amnh.org) has jazz fridays in the planetarium, with a live band, tapas appetizers and drinks. And there is a "laser light show" also.

A heads up...I had looked into the jazz and tapas at the AMNH planetarium and it is my understanding that it is "first Fridays" only.

Jazz club with teens could be a wonderful experience but also a "disaster", depending of the artist
and the type of jazz( modern jazz is
difficult,...).
For a very different experience try if you are in Ny on sunday the parlor entertainment (web site :
parlorentertainment.com) : marjorie
organizes every sunday a jazz session with various artists in her appartment in Harlem.Very easy to go(it's well explained on the site...), very unusual
and "off the road" but reaaly roots of jazz...
Erik.
