Nightlife without clubbing?
Hello,
We are headed for NYC next week (Jan 6-9) and we are working on planning our nights. We are doing broadway shows either one or two nights, but the other nights are open. It is supposed to be cold and rainy so we plan to do most of our walking the streets and exploring during the days. We are in our mid-late 20s, and we are NOT into drinking, clubbing, etc. We would like something unique, interesting, we feel we can go to bars at home in Dallas! Any advice? We like comedy, or a relatively calm place to sit and have a unique drink, something like this. Thanks in advance!

How about doing a little reading and coming back with more specific questions?

Unique and fun is Bowlmor.com (bowling alley)
Comedy clubs galore. Piano bars/cabarets too. What about some fun, funky off Broadway? Cookin', Stomp, or one of the audience participation things like The Awesome 80s Prom or Tony & Tina's wedding etc. Discounts to all of these available (playbill.com, broadwaybox.com,
http://SeasonofSavings.com)
There are also plenty of music venues like BB Kings', Dizzy's Coca Cola etc.

You'd be surprised how fun and diverse the bars are in NYC compared to Dallas. Check out some of the drinking establishments in the East Village. Hi-Fi, for example, has the best jukebox in Manhattan. d.b.a. has an amazing selection of single malts and small batch bourbons. KGB and the Nuyorican Poets Cafe are great -- you'll certainly find nothing comparable in the Big-D. Hundreds if not thousands more.
