Ivan, you are not welcome to Florida. We've had enough of your kind. We're tired of you. Our welcome mat is not out. Go Away! Bad storm! Shoooo! Skidaddle! Adios! Boo! Your mother wears army boots! You will get double frequent flyer points by going to Mexico. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, go directly to Mexico.

Marty, we've had three in a row, two were major hurricanes. We do not think we are wrong in thinking, it might be time to "share". The best thing would be for it to just die to a tropical storm before it makes landfall anywhere. This has been the case in the Gulf for quite some time. In insurance parlance, we were "due".
I look at this morning's spaghetti chart and my stomach just turns.

The resolve and strength of Florida residents and the islands in the Atlantic that are being slammed on the way to Florida amaze me. During Isabel, my family was without power in Virginia for 11 days and it was horrible. The fact that Florida is being hit over, and over, and over again absolutely stuns me. I would be so tempted to pack the car and never return!!
You are in our thoughts and prayers.

The good news is that the gulf temperature has lowered to around 80 degrees. The cooler it gets the less Ivan has to feed on which could mean he just goes away.
The other good news is that supposedly no hurricane in history that has started wherever this one started has hit Florida.
Can you tell I'm channel surfing hoping to find only the good news?

How about a HARD turn into the North Atlantic.
Well, it's have to be a REALLY hard turn at this point and a few islands would still get hit. Drats.
This one scares me. Let's just hope it struggles to keep that Cat 4 rating and wobbles down to a 1 before landfall.

Well Gotravel, fodors closed the tracking thread again. I don't get it! Maybe I'm the only one who is interested in knowing those links so that I can track the storm. I do know it's taken me a long time to find a lot of them.
Anyway, hopefully they won't freeze this one, (and if they do, I apologize in advance) but to answer your question about sea temperatures:

"Hibiscus, did you scroll across the page with your left-right arrows"
Oh, don't I feel silly.
It was waaayyyy over to the right of my screen once I scrolled over. It's never done that before. Usually, the reply box is within my window frame.
Sorry for the hysterics.
