Itinerary Help:San Fran, Yosemite, & Wine
Hubby and I planning a trip to San Fran over Labor Day Weekend, arriving in San Fran on Thurs. Aug 31 and leaving from San Fran on Mon. Sept 11th.
so my thoughts are:
San Fran(31-4th)-Napa(5-7th)-Yosemite(7-9th)-San Fran(10-11th), or
San Fran (31-4th)-Yosemite(4-6th)-Napa(6-9)-San Fran(10-11th)
My brother says we only need 2 days one night in Yosemite, and that we should spend more time in San Fran. We will rent a Harley from San Fran to the other destinations.
I am looking to stay at the Yosemite Lodge, which is why the dates are so weird but that is the only availability. (reason: I need internet access to work while away)
Also, any recommendations for accomodations (yosemite/Wine Country) or must-sees (all over) would be appreciated.
Thanks

Driving all the way to Yosemite (one of the true wonders of the world) for barely 1.5 days is nuts. Don't cut any time from Yosemite - I'd even add a day of possible. If you want an extra day in San Francisco, take it from Napa.
That time of year is pretty crowded in the wine country.

Unless you totally don't like scenery, you won't be sorry with 3 days and 2 nights in Yosemite.
The 4th, 5th & 6th are Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. You might find VERY LONG lines entering Yosemite on the 4th since it's a part of the holiday weekend. Also with Hwy 140 closed due to rockslides it makes the lines longer at the Hwy 120 entrance. BUT after you are in the crowds will lessen on Tuesday and Wednesday.
As for your choice of the 7th, 8th and 9th. You shouldn't have any problem entering the park on Thursday. BUT the crowds will start showing up on Friday and Saturday.

Two nights in Yosemite is fine - more would be better, but lodging availibility being what it is, two nights is good. One night, as your brother suggested, is much too short - in my opinion. I would get on the road as early as you can the day you head up to Yosemite. This way you will avoid the heat in the central valley - not too bad if you are in a car with AC, on a bike the sun will that much more of an issue.
