Italian restaurant close or in caesars

My husband and I will be seeing the Elton john concert in Caesars palace in october. The tickets are sold out already, I was surprised by that.
The show starts at 7:30. Does anyone know what time we should arrive? i also wondered if anyone could recommened a romantic Italian restaurant that is close to Caesars or in Caesars. We will be dressed up so attire wont be a problem.
Thanks, Marykc

Thanks for the tip. Onda looks like a really nice place. The show starts at 7:30 and I think it lasts until nine. do you think it would be better to make late reservations rather then trying to go before the show? I have read so many reviews on slow service at various restaurants. I checked on line and onda takes reservations as late as 10:00 pm.
Thanks
Marykc

Hi Marykc,

We just saw Elton John this past weekend at Caesar's. We had dinner beforehand at "808", a restaurant in Caesars.(Definitely not Italian).

We had 6:00 reservations and made it to the show at about 7:20, and it was no problem. They didn't start the show until almost everyone was seated, which was about 7:40.

We were there on a Sunday night, and there were plenty of seats open in all of the restaurants in Caesar's that we passed by. Slow service was not a problem for us. If you tell them that you're trying to catch a show, the better restaurants will do everything possible to get you on your way on time.

If you decide on a restaurant outside of Caesar's, you will have to leave yourselves a little more time. You might want to check the restaurants in the Forum Shops, so you'll still be on the Caesar's property. With all of the expansions, Caesar's is getting so huge, it takes a while to walk from one section to another (the reason I so dislike the MGM Grand).

We got out of the theater at about 9:20. We were also torn between eating before or after, but we decided to eat a late breakfast, no lunch and go for the earlier dinner.

Elton was great, by the way. He sounded a little hoarse, so did not attempt to hit the high notes of his earlier years. The eye-popping video montages on the huge screen behind him were interesting, but sometimes a bit distracting.

One warning, we bought two glasses of wine (most likely out of a box) in little plastic glass and they cost $15 each!

All-in-all it was a fun night. I'm sure you'll have a great time.

I'd eat after the show so you can truly enjoy yourself at dinner and not have to look at your watch in between every course. I was at Caesars a couple weeks ago and the size and complexity of the layout does make it a little difficult to get from one place to another, so I'd consider that another reason to go afterwards.

Can't help you with Italian, sorry.

Onda is better than Terrazza.
Next best alternative is to cross over to Venetian.

There's a Spago cafe in the Caesar's Forum, and Bertolini's in the Forum is good too, but very casual.

Since we suddenly discovered that we were sharing our table with a cockroach in Spago last year, I cannot say that I would recommend it, even though I did like their food. It just is not worth the upset!
I would cross over to the Bellagio or down the street to the Venetian or the Mirage (although Onda underwhelmed us last Thanksgiving).

At the Bellagio, I am sad to say I think you should avoid Circo--great decor, nice service, bad food. What more can I say?! Their more casual Italian place, Olive's, was closed for renovation but may be open by October, and I thought the menu looked good.

Thanks for all the tips. Needless to say I wont be eating at the restaurant where Scarlett saw the cockroach.
I dont know how to reply to these messages individually so IVK, I will take your word that Elton John put on a good show. He better or I may be divorced after 25 years. I bought my tickets on line and they were 450.00 a piece , for the rear orchestra. I should be on the piano bench with him for that price. Thanks again
