Blue Hill @ Stone Barns Rest. in NY

I was lucky to receive a very generous gift certificate for this restaurant. I have never been there and my husband and I are exctied to go.

However, I am feeling very frustrated at trying to make a reservation. Apparently, they only take reservations 2 months in advance. That means that I have to call on the date of a specific Saturday 2 months prior. That would be fine, but they are often booked already by 10am! So I am limited to about one hour of calling which is quite difficult to do given my busy work schedule and inability to make phone calls while working.

Does anyone have any hints for me? Is this place worth all this fuss?

Thanks!

I have never been there, but I have a friend who has, who claims that it is TOTALLY worth all the fuss. Everything I know about the place is "super swank" and excellent food.

excellent restaurant. I've never been there on a Saturday, but have been able to get Wed/Thu reservations on 1-2 week notice.

If you can go a different day besides Saturday you may have more luck. My guess is that there is an "A" list and a "B" list. You and I are on the "B" list, and by the time you call 2mo ahead the place is already booked by others who have more clout, money, or both.

Try open table, I actually once saw a Fri. night prime table open once or twice. Also, if you go early or late, there's usually open table restaurants available.

It's an amazing place!

I go there all the time, and I love it!

Previous poster is giving good advice - - - go to opentable.com and book from there (really early in the morning!).

Enjoy your meal.

Thank you all for your advice. I will keep my eye on opentable.com.

I guess I will try not to get too frustrated since it sounds like everyone who has gone thinks it is a great place.

Thanks again!
