Italian dinner in NYC
I'm heading up to NYC this weekend with my mom for a belated birthday (hers) and mother's day weekend. Of all the times I've been to the city, I've never eaten in Little Italy and thought we'd give it a go this trip. Any suggestions for our Friday night dinner? I've done a search on here and was so surprised not to find a posting with Italian recommendations...the only one I saw was from a Jan 05 post with several restaurants and only 1 Italian - Vento? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...as far as budget, I'd say no more than $25 for entrees.

If you're looking for a good meal on Mulberry Street in Little Italy, I suggest Da Nico, between Broome & Grand.
If you're looking for good Italian food in general, there are literally dozens if not hundreds of options in NYC.
Enjoy!

I think that Little Italy (and Chinatown for that matter) aren't what they used to be; the best Italian meals I've had in NYC have not been in Little Italy. I'd suggest you get a Zagat's guide, go to the Italian restaurant listing, check out the locations and scores that you want, and make a reservation.

I've had some great dinners in Little Italy at Il Palazzo, at 151 Mulberry St.

In the theatre district, there is
Trattoria Trecolori, which is also very good. It's at 133 W 45th St between 6th & 7th.
Both are well within your budget.
