ISO Resort at a 3star price

What's the most luxurious 3 starrish hotel you've stayed in in Oahu and Maui?

I had my 10 day Maui/Oahu trip almost booked when DH decided to reignite our age old fight: he wants a resort; I want to save money, and who needs a resort in HI anyway?
We may have to cut our days of stay to accomodate these gradiose hotel dreams.
My thinking is that we will be so busy that we will barely be in the room anyway. He didn't like the (online) looks of the New Otani or Outrigger in Maui. TMI I know, but help anyway, please.

You don't stay at a resort for the room, you stay at a resort for the other conveniences. What is it your husband wants that you don't think are important?

If he wants a resort, my guess is he wants to relax more that you do. From your post, it sounds like you are an up-at-dawn and tourist until sunset, while he may just want to rest by the pool and have someone bring him a drink.

Hi, you can try to get a resort for a 3 star price with Priceline or Hotwire. A resort on Oahu can be had from about $130+ depending on the location. We got the Maui Grand Hyatt before at $200 night, people are also getting the Sheraton Resort in Maui for about that. It really depends on your dates, but check out www.biddingfortravel.com and www.betterbidding.com to get help on how much to bid and narrowing the properties that will most likely hit.

Good Luck.

Forgot to add...$130 is a lowball for a property like the Hawaii Prince. Resorts like the Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, Sheratons...will probably be closer to $200.

My dh said the Same thing! He wants a resort, I was thinking condo. I did Priceline for October, and got the Sheraton on Black rock for $195. Not bad. I am very pleased with the location. We can walk to Whaler's village from what I have read on here.

Have you considered Priceline? You can't change it or cancel it though.

When are you going?
