ISO Lodging near Watkins Glen, NY
We’re heading to Watkins Glen this summer. Please recommend hotels in the area. We’re going during a busy weekend and many places are already sold out. Would love ideas for nearby towns as well. Thank you

When I was in that area last summer, I just stayed at some chain hotel in Ithaca, NY. It's only about 25 miles away. It's a nice small college town since Cornell is there. Or you could stay in Corning, it's only about 20 miles away and there are some neat museums in Corning (museum of Glass and Norman Rockwell museum).

I’m a sales rep in New York so stay in these areas a fair amount. The Watkins Glen Harbor hotel is very nice and, on the lake, but guessing it is one you say is sold out. They have minimum stays during tourist season as well. The Inn at Glenora Wine north of Watkins Glen is very nice, but may be booked as well. I’ve stayed in Watkins Glen alone for work at the Villager (don’t recommend) and Colonial Inn (clean, but just a place to sleep).
Ithaca and Corning are both nice walkable towns with several dining choices. In Corning the Radisson is in a great location downtown, but haven’t stayed there in a while and recent reviews are iffy - used to be nice. The Hilton Garden Inn is walkable to downtown and new. Both are close to the Corning Glass Museum, highly recommend. Several chain hotels nearby as well.
Ithaca now has several hotels downtown like the Hilton Garden Inn, Marriott, Canopy by Hilton, and Hotel Ithaca (used to be a Holiday Inn). Several chain hotels nearby as well. We like Ithaca due to several nice waterfalls nearby and even in town.
