Is there Laptop rental or web access in Waikiki?
My business requires I stay in touch electronically while on Oahu the next two weeks, but I hate to take a laptop just to check e-mail. The hotel I'm staying at offers highspeed internet, but no hardware. They couldn't help with any questions about rentals. Any advice? I considered going to the library, but it's a hit or miss thing and I need something I can rely on.
TIA

We were told on Maui, to use the computers at the library you have to purchase a library card for ten dollars, for three months use. It could be worth the cost if you use the computer alot. The libraries are closed on Sunday and Monday.

I've used the laptop service at the Waikiki Marriott's Business Club...can't remember the cost, but it wasn't prohibitive. And sooooooo much easier than lugging that danged laptop!
You can use the laptop right there in the business center, or -- if you are a hotel guest -- take it to your room (some rooms even have wireless capability).

When I went to Waikiki with my daughter last May, she was taking a computer based course and had to turn in her lessons and get new assignments. We tried at the local library to use the internet but were told you have to be a resident. We found and used the internet at a place that's on the ground floor of the Waikiki Shore (next door to the Outrigger). The place is on the beach end of the building facing the park. Can't remember the price now but it was pretty cheap.

What is it exactly that you want to do? Just send and receive e-mail from/to your office e-mail system? If so what do you need to do this ? Do you just need access to the internet? Or do you need a computer that is configured to connect to your office system ?

I have used Fishbowl a zillion times. It's on Kuhio Av at the Kuhio Village (sort of back behoind the Hyatt). $6 for an hour.
I also like the internet place next to the Waikiki Shore. Also very reasonably priced.
Both these places are recommended by the previous posters. Both have excellent air conditioning which is a bonus!
The library is not reliable as you actually have to find a terminal that's vacant and get a library card. Some of the Hawaii libraries have sign-up time slots for computer use which is not convenient for a vacationer.
Sometimes I take a laptop and use the high speed access in the hotel but for quick trips I think it is easier to just go to the Fishbowl becuase traveling with a laptop is a hassle.
I avoid the keyboard in the hotel room that boasts "email." It is very cumbersome to use .
