Hello. I'm going to Queens in March for business and was wondering if it is safe. Also, if anyone could recommend a good hotel around 100 a night, I'd be much obliged.

What part of Queens? It is a large borough with many different areas. Some are safe and other are not. There really aren't many hotels that I am aware of in Queens except by the airports (JFK and LGA). My suggestions would be to stay in Manhatan and take the subway to destination in Queens. You can get to most aeas in Queens within about 20 minutes by subway.

I'll be working right by LGA. Unfortunately, due to the work, I have to stay in that area.

The best hotels in that area are Marriot LGa and Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza.Both of them are nice.That area is ok but if you want to go into NYC for Dinner it is only a 20 minute taxi ride.

The best reply is that all of the boroughs in New York are best thought of as cities -- millions of people, diverse populations, areas that aren't safe, stable neighborhoods, middle class neighborhoods, neighborhoods with multi-million dollar homes, struggling areas. Just try and make sure (I have no idea how) that whatever hotel you choose doesn't also have "hourly rates."

please correct your grammar. you mean "are queens safe?" Yes, most are and wouldn't hurt you at all, very peaceful. but insult one's makeup, outfit, or hair and you just might get bitch-slapped.

I stayed in Woodside Queens for two weeks in September. I'm Irish in my early 20's and had never been to the US before. I was pretty freaked at the THOUGHT of it and how safe it would be etc. Well i need not have worried. I went off each day by myself into Manhattan and also spent a lot of time walking around Woodside and surrounding areas. I was also out a few nights and after a few drinks forgot where the apartment was the first few days while i was getting my bearings (I do not advise this) and people were very helpful and i got home safe and sound everynight. The areas i was in seemed safe but i was on my gaurd sometimes.

Most of Queens is safe, however getting around outside of trains can be confusing!! You will have 73rd Street, 73rd Avenue, 73rd Terrace, 73rd Road, 73rd Circle, etc.

If you are staying by LaGuardia, the areas I would recommend going to (by cab, as there are no trains by LGA unless you want to take a bus there) would be Forest Hills, Astoria or Bayside. All of these areas have great restaurants and nightlife.

However, avoid like the plague Corona and Jamaica or most of south east Queens, which is not that great.
