Is Key Biscayne a Key?

Is Key Biscayne a Key?
Key Biscayne is not on any of the maps of the Florida Keys. Does that mean it is not a key?

Technically, a key is another word for an island. Geographically, it is part of the land mass that makes up the Florida Keys but mentally it is not.

Yes, not a key. Its just an island like South Beach or Palm Beach.

I think Key Biscayne is just east of Miami. A lot of the Florida Keys are extending south from the tip of mainland florida.

Key Biscayne is a "Key" but not part of the well-known strip of Keys called the "Florida Keys". The first "Key" in the "Florida Keys" is Key Largo and stretches southwest towards Key West.
Key Biscayne is just outside of Miami.

Actually, Key Biscayne technically is the FIRST Key, and it is just SOUTH of Miami Beach (not East) and SHOULD be on your map! Look again and look carefully this time!

Went to Key Biscayne in May. Stayed at Sonesta and it was WONDERFUL!! A little pricey, but well worth it. If you want night life stay in the heart of Miami.

It ABSOLUTELY is a key and part of the Florida Keys.
