Is it safe in Baltimore outside the Inner Harbor?

It seems like everyone who visits Baltimore likes to visit the inner harbor area. I have done that, what else is there? Is it safe to visit

If you want answers about the USA, WHY post on a site designated for Canada? I think your questions and conversational style would be more suited on another board.

Kind of weird, your post showed up in the Canada board for a few minutes, but then disappeared. Sorry about that!

What kinds of things are you interested in? There are several other neighborhoods to explore: Federal Hill, Fells Point, Mt. Vernon, etc. All of them have interesting shops, restaurants and bars. There are some historic homes north of the city that can be toured. There are some vineyards that have evening events. What kinds of activities are you looking for?

Therea are neighborhoods that are very safe and there are neighborhoods that are very unsafe. You wouldn't want to do a scenic tour of the neighborhoods in last year's arc in HBO's "The Wire" or "The Corner", another HBO show. However, you could do a tour of "Homicide" sites or "Sleepless in Seattle" sites. Loads of movies have been made in Baltimore, and I am sure there's a website somewhere that gives a tour.

Neighborhoods like the aforementioned Federal Hill and Fells Point are nice, as are Roland Park and Guilford, both on the north side of the city. Roland Park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, who designed Central Park.

If you have a car, Annapolis isn't far and it's definitely worth a visit.
