Is it really going to rain in Maui all next week?

Fodors fans, I'm freaking out! DH and I are leaving TOMORROW morning (in the midst of a blizzard no less) for Maui, and rain is in the forecast everyday next week while we'll be there! Please reassure me that it won't actually rain all day, everyday. Will it just rain a little bit each day? Should we head south to Wailea? (I know this will be recommended because a nervous traveler posted the same question in January, but I need to be sure!) We're staying @ Sheraton Maui in Kaanapali, and posters here have been so helpful in planning our trip; I just need some advice in my time of need. Thanks!

Don't freak out. As discussed on this board before...Hawaii is known for its micro-climates.

There's no guarantee on how much or little it will rain on Maui next week, but it will still be nice as far as I know.

We stayed in early Feb in Lahaina once. Only two heavy showers, but that wasn't even all day, out of the 7 days. Though it can vary from year to year, I still wouldn't worry much.

I am going next week too and I'm not too worried about it. There might be some rain, but there will also be plenny of sun. There may be some passing showers during the night or day. The windward side of the island has a greater chance fo getting rain than the leeward side which is where kaanapali (west) and Wailea (south) are located. The weather forecasts I've seen forecast 50-60% chance of rain windward, 10%- 20% leeward. That seems pretty normal for Hawaii.

someone here recommended a site (I am now addicted to it) www.seehawaiilive.com it's from starwood properties but you click on one of the hotels in Maui (I just did) and it gives you live pictures right now it does not look too bad, have a great trip.

Would you rather wait for another "blizzard" or worry about the possibility of periodic rain?

Thanks to all for your suggestions, so far. I'm a little more relaxed now, and I've looked at the live pictures, so thanks, Colombiana.

Dukey - you are right! thanks for the perspective.

Check out this website--it allows you to check forecasts for the various areas on each island. http://www.hawaiiweathertoday.com

Another site to look at is thehawaiichannel.com. They have a doppler forecast which I found helpful. Have a great trip.

Yes, it will rain somewhere on Maui every day next week, and every day every week following that. But will it rain on you every day? Extremely unlikely at the Sheraton, unless some freak Kona storm comes along and parks itself right over Ka`anapali for the entire week.

We stayed at the same place and around the same time last year - there was predicted rain every day for us too - we hardly saw a drop during the day, although we did get some showers at night. No worries. I say ignore the forecast and have a great trip!
