Int'l flight Term. B Newark. 2 hrs enough time flight in terminal C?
Flight from Nairobi via Amsterdam arriving 1:25p Newark airport terminal B. How long to get through customs and make it to terminal C? Planning a 3:25 flight, would I make it? Thanks.

I agree. You have to collect your luggage and go thru customs and immigration (longer if you are not a U.S. citizen). Then you have to recheck your luggage, take the airtrain to Terminal C (which won't take too long), then fight the lines to go back thru security. I would give it 3 hours, especially if you want your luggage to accompany you on the flight.

Agree - that isn't nearly enough time. There are a lot of international flights arriving then - and even if your is on time - you need to get to the gate, trek to immigration, wait on that line, hope your luggage turns up quickly and then get to the other terminal, check luggage gain, get through security again. I think 3 hours is tight - and would check on how often your incoming flight arrives on time.

I agree not a chance to make you second flight. The NY/NJ airports have been having LOTS of problems with flights being ontime, so if it is late and since it is coming from so far away, the chances of the flight leaving there ontime could also be a problem. Add to that the weather especially if in the spring or summer when thunderstorms are brewing.
I'd suggest trying to get the last flight of the day for your connection, or you might think about staying overnight and catching a flight in the morning.

For US citizens, that's plenty of time. Your bags can already have the proper tag for the connection on Continental, and you may be able to get boarding passes on CO by checking-in online 24 hours prior.
1.5 hours is tight. 2 hrs is adequate, though not very comfortable. If you're not US citizen or resident, then your chances go down quite a bit.
But without knowing your nationality/residency, I wouldn't just go out and say "no chance".

I say "not a chance", whether you are a US citizen or not, because of the dismal "on time" record at Newark.
And, as mentioned above, even with "tags", you have to get through Immigration, then Customs, then (if you need to) recheck your bags, then get get to the next terminal, then get through security, then get to your gate 30 minutes before for boarding.
The OP is "planning a 3:25 flight" which would indicate a separate ticket.
The WORST idea would be to book the last flight of the day. Flights are cancelled at Newark for a brisk breeze.
Last time (and it will be the LAST time) we connected at Newark (last month), our flight was the last flight of the day and it was cancelled due to weather. Continental could not get us on another flight until Tuesday (this was on a Saturday).
If you have to check in for the connecting flight, all bets are definitely off.

First, the OP can already done OLCI for the CO flihgt. He doesn't need to be at the gate 30 minutes early. Tonnes of people get to gate at EWR with much less than that time and can still make it.
Second, the OP's flight from AMS arrived at 1:25p. On most days, delays at EWR (and other NYC airports) don't pile up until around 3p. I am not saying the place is not busy, but 1:25p is not bad, and going through security at Terminal C at 2:30p-3p is also not bad.
I used to book myself and my relatives with a 1:30p connection at around the same time period, and we make the connection most of the time. One time I even got on an earlier flight home to Houston. Now, I book it with a 2:30p connection because 1:30p does seem tight at times. But the chances of making a 2 hour connection is better than what's being described here.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. Made reservations with Northwest for 5:50pm which is in same terminal. Didn't want to cut it too close. The flt. is for my son who lives in Minnesota but the travel service used to book flights made a mistake and instead of booking him round trip Minn. they booked him coming back with us to Newark. Since we will have started homeward bound 10p night before from Nairobi I wanted to get him home asap. First email I recieved from them had his flight correct so I didn't check on further emails or even the invoice when I rec'd it so I bear some responsibility for error. Hoping they will spilt the ticket price. Thank you all again for your information.
