International House on East 15th
Hey all- I was referred to this hotel by the front desk person at another full hotel. The prices are really great, they give discounts if you are coming into town to visit NYU with students. I can't seem to find anything on either this site or tripadvisors. Anyone have something about this place? Thanks so much, chillykim

A quick search at www.jimsdeli.com comes up with Seafarers & International House located at 123 E. 15th Street. Phone 212 677-4800. Is this the same hotel? It is actually referred to as a hostel on the jimsdeli site and seemed to get a decent review. There is a link to this hotel of www.sihnyc.org/hotel.html
If you do end up staying here perhaps you can post back so that it will be of help to others who may be looking to save $'s.
Good luck.
Sandy

sandybrit- Yes, it is the same place. I found great reviews about it at tripadvisor. The gentleman at the front desk is giving me both rooms at the student rate of 1 double- 76.00 per night and 1 single-56.00 since I am bringing high school students up to visit NYU. (reg. is double 96.00, single 76.00) Even the reg. rates are good. They do have a web site: www.sihnyc.org. I will post when I return. Thanks, chillykim

Hey all - the trip to NYC and NYU was wonderful. The weekend weather was great, and it was fun to see so many people dressed up and walking the streets in costume. The Seafarer's was good. The rooms are tiny, just a twin bed, little desk, dresser with TV, and a sink.We also had a roll-a-way in there. Not much room for a third person but my son slept on the floor. Toilet down hall and shower down the hall. We paid the student rate of $76.00 per nite- no tax. Some of the rooms do have a bath for a little more a night (I think $20.00 more), but all in all a great place to stay cheap! We were right at Union Square, right down where many of the students hang out. Rode the subway all over the place. Just had a great time. We will stay here when we go back. Clean, cheap, great location. Thanks to everyone for all the tips! take care, chilly
