Interisland Flights

What are normal rates for a r/t flight between maui and kawaii, w/ a sat stay? Also, could someone explain the deal with w/ these couupons? I see r/t fares around $150pp, are these fair? We do have to take the flights on specific dates but are somewhat flexible on times, though we don't want to waste a whole day waiting in the airport. Thanks for any help on this!

$150pp is about average for rt interisland fares. Sometimes you can find deals that are a little lower but not by much. I believe the coupons save you approx. $10 one way but there is a minimum number that you have to purchase. Last year I redeemed 10,000 FF miles for an interisland rt. Someone else mentioned a few days ago that they were able to redeem for only 5,000 miles(I believe using UA miles thru Aloha).

I bought a book of coupons from Aloha. You get 6 interisland travel coupons for $408. Works out to $68 per ticket. They were good for anyone. My husband and I each used 3. Even if you only use 2 each, it works out to less than $150 per ticket - which is about right on the base rate.
These coupons can only be purchased at the Aloha counter once you get to Hawaii - but you can call Aloha and reserve a seat in advance. They don't require advanced payment.

If you will only need 1 ticket each, you're best bet is probably to check for web fare specials on their website.

MMN,
When you say you get 6 coupons, is each coupon good for one way travel? If that's the case and you only end up using 2 coupons each, then wouldn't you have basically paid $204 per person for the roundtrip? Seems like unless you will be using all of the coupons, it's better just to buy the tickets. BTW, I checked with Northwest this morning and their FF miles are also redeemable for an interisland rt on Hawaiian Airlines at 5000 miles per ticket.

aloha;

One of the airlines has a deal for people with flexible time frames. We used it last summer. It was 49.95 one way, no advance coupon purchase. Go to their web site either Aloha or Hawaiian and check it out. I would never use 10,000 ff miles unless I had lots to spare.

It's also a good way to use up those ff miles when you don't have enough miles in your account for any other awards and you aren't going to be flying that airline anytime soon in the foreseeable future.
