In L.A., San Diego and Ontario

Hi, My daugther (21 years) and I are looking for fun things to do in Los Angeles, San Diego and Ontario. No Disney, please.

We leave for L.A. tomorrow (2/9/12) after a week long conference and no time to plan. We plan to drive the coast from L.A. to San Diego and go back home on 2/14/12. Your help is needed. Thank you.

Knowing where you are coming from might be helpful.
Here is the directory for the Ontario Mills Mall depending on what you are shopping for. http://www.simon.com/mall/malldirectory.aspx?id=1258

Pls check some other posts in here under California for good info, but briefly: Driving down Hiway 1/Pacific Coast Hiway from LA to San Diego is beautiful - and in SD - many fairly easy things to get to such as the Gaslamp downtown, Old Town, Coronado, the Zoo and/or Safari Park (formerly the Wild Animal Park - which some like better than the Zoo,) Balboa Park with many museums, the villages of La Jolla and Del Mar, the USS Midway and walking along the Embarcadero downtown, out to Cabrillo Pt. in Point Loma, and the list goes on.

When you are saying you are going to LA - not sure what you mean... LA is big? I would most likely drive to Rodeo drive - walk along it - head out to Santa Monica - go to 3rd street promanade and walk around - have a meal there - head down south PCH like Tom recommended - stop and if the timing works have a drink/dinner at http://www.lasbrisaslagunabeach.com/ in Laguna Beach -

Head down south the San Diego - with a 21 year old I would stay in the gaslamp area - tons of hotels to choose from - if you give your budget can help with that. Shop at Horton Plaza - go over the bridge to Corandado - go to the hotel Del - go to Prospect Street in La Jolla - eat at the Terrace on Georges of the Cove http://www.georgesatthecove.com/
