Dawn, Tucson may or may not happen now. The best thing would be if my husband gets a job and we CAN'T go to Tucson, and then we'd go somewhere next week before he started the new job. That's what we're hoping for now.

And we need to be somewhere where we can get back if we need to, which is why we're wanting to stay in the States (not the Caribbean territories )

Thanks for all the new suggestions. Will check them out and, hopefully, will get to go somewhere!

I think based on what you shared - Charleston sounds great!

If you are thinking Charleston...
I got the Staybridge Suites Historic District Savannah on Hotwire for $69. I LOVE this hotel. Great location, kitchenette in the room, free breakfast, I was there for Fiesta night with free wine/beer, fireplace in the lobby, great linens, comfortable beds and walking to great restaurants. So, if you want "close" at a great price...

Well, we're still not sure. Now we're looking in the Caribbean, too, but I'm trying to find a good deal. Any more ideas are welcome, too! We would like to leave on Sunday, and we've decided we just want to stay four nights. We'll fly out of Atlanta.

Thanks!

We're looking at an Expedia package to Cancun. Anybody stayed at the Live Aqua Cancun recently? It looks like a nice place for a good deal.

Depending on the Internet connectivity/speed, you can use skype to make calls. It is free to other skype members on their computers (both voice and IM) and not that expensive to regular phones.

Chech the last minute weekend flight deals on airline websites. We almost went to Barcelona last week, the deal was so good.

Ah! Cancun, I was just going to suggest that, then looked up and saw your post above!!
Very good choice IMHO!
My DH and I've went there and loved it - the beaches are beautiful. I would also take a day trip to Merida (a beautiful Spanish colonial city) and a side trip to see the Mayan ruins (we loved Chetzen Itza).
